So, I was reading an article about stress and its affects on our lives both individually and corporately. The article went on to say that we need to pinpoint the source of our stress to limit its control in our life. Then we need to follow these tips to help manage our stress:
-Identify what you can or cannot change about the situation
-If possible, reduce exposure to the cause of stress
-Maintain emotional reserves by talking with supportive people
-Sleep 7-8 hours a night or take a nap during the day
-Improve organizational skills
-Limit your intake of caffeine
-Avoid alcohol, illicit drugs, and nicotine
-Eat a well-balanced diet
-Exercise regularly
-Volunteer in your community
I agree with this article - Yes we should avoid illicit drugs and alcohol. Yes we need to identify what we do not have control over. Yes we need to form a supportive circle around us. Yes we need to be organized. Yes we need to volunteer...........there is something to be said when you donate your time and sacrifice for something that is bigger than yourself. Something that has lasting impact. That something is what gets us out of bed in the morning. That something is what helps us get through the day. That something is what keeps us treading water when we fell like giving up. That something - is really something.
What is your Something?
Hopefully your Something is GOD.
